So, as you can probably tell from the title of this week's post, I've found a way to hopefully get involved with and do some research on Pittsburgh's street-performing scene. Of course, you've probably also realized that this means I've got no update regarding my correspondence with Rostrum Records, but I'm praying we see that sometime soon. At any rate, let's get into the meat of today's post.
After doing a bit of Google searching around the web I wasn't really finding much about the Pittsburgh busking scene, other than some ancient articles and a website that had last been updated in 2002. (I'm not even joking here.) Then, I finally found this website after changing my search query a little bit. This really seems like something I should've been able to find much earlier, but you'd be surprised.
Anyway, at the bottom of the page they have some contact information listed, so I did my usual thing and shot them an email, the contents of which you can read below. (Pretty standard stuff, but I figure something this important to the project should be well-documented.)
I sincerely hope I'll hear from them within a week so that I can keep you updated in next week's post, and by that time I really do believe I'll have heard back from the folks at Rostrum as well.
As for some bonus content for this week, it suddenly came to my attention that there are people viewing these blogs who may not have seen my music and might not know exactly why I'm so interested in the music industry. So if you have the time, and don't mind shameless self-promotion, the link to my Youtube channel can be found here and you can listen to my full-length album "Herdkore" here. Perhaps this will give you a better understanding of my project and why I chose this topic.
